My Newest Creation

As many of you know, my shop has been closed for a few weeks now as I was awaiting (and enjoying!) the arrival of the newest Baird.  Please welcome baby Baird the 4th, my newest creation!

She is destine to be a model, for not only is she my newest creation, she is wearing one of my new designs!  I just love how sweet she looks in this skirted flower necklace onesie!

I made it just for her homecoming outfit.  In my family we have this tradition that babies are always photographed with some something depicting the season in which they were born.  Since I knew I was going  to have her while the lilacs are in  bloom (which just happen to be my favorite flower!) I just had to make her something that would go nicely with her coming home picture!

To top off the perfect outfit I turned to my dear friend at Harper Victoria's Bowtique for a custom headband! I love the resulting outfit!

My favorite things

One of my favorite thing about what I do is the creative aspect.  I get joy out of the challenge presented to me by special orders, especially the Custom Applique Blankets.  It is so much fun working with my customers to create something that they will love and that will fit their personalities! 

These are two of my most recent blankets, they were designed for a sweet set of twins!

I love how the colors and layouts match without being identical- kinda like the twins themselves!


And this sweet blanket was designed to specifically match an adorable nursery.  It was her finishing touch.  I was able to use pictures that she sent to me to find the perfect fabric and color combinations to help bring it all together.

(Yes I should have ironed all these before taking pictures- I will do better in the future!)

I love how it turned out, but better yet, so did the mom who ordered it!

Appliqué Blankets

These blankets are by far the item I enjoy sewing for my customers the most!  Why?  Well it is not because they are the easiest, that's for sure!  Each of these blankets is unique and special. Custom designed around the themes my clients choose. So although these blankets take many many hours to put together, I get the satisfaction of designing something special, something no one has ever seen before, and will never be identically duplicated again.

Welcome to Mama Baird's Sweet Stitches blog!

For some time I have been dreaming of opening my own shop where I can craft and sell items of all kinds. As a stay at home mom this thought was daunting, especially with the unknown involved.  But with the encouragement of my family and my wonderful friends, and the full support of my dear husband I decided to take the leap a couple months ago!  And so Mama Baird's Sweet Stitches was born!  So far I am loving it.  It is, of course, as struggle to find the proper balance, and with my fourth child due in a couple months my timing may have been a little insane!  However, as they say, there is no time like the present and why put off until tomorrow what you can do today...right?!  Haha, ok so I'm crazy, fine, I admit it!  But if that is the case I am both crazy and happy! I am truly enjoying designing things for others, and get a great satisfaction in seeing the joy others have when they give and receive my creations!

So why the blog?  Well why not?! I want to be able to keep in touch with my clients in as many ways possible, this way you can join me as I struggle and overcome all the many obstacles that come with starting a business and working with a needle and thread...and of course doing it with kids! I hope that you will join my on this journey, and help me laugh about it as we go!
